Start-Up Business Advice

So why is advice to Start Ups different to advice to more mature businesses?

As a Start Up, it is generally your first experience of running a business totally by yourself.  Most of you have an idea that you want to turn into a business to provide yourself and your family with a steady, sustainable income.

But let’s face it, even if you have worked in a business before you have never been solely responsible for everything…Jean was there to answer the phone, Jack made the tea on his break from doing deliveries, Martha looked after the social media marketing, Diane did the bookkeeping to give to the external accountant and so on and so forth.  As a Start Up entrepreneur, you might not have to do all the things yourself, but you need a broad understanding so that you can get the right people to do them for you and to understand that they have been done correctly.

Quite often, no matter how revolutionary the idea is, it is the lack of knowledge of business and finance related matters that is the downfall of fledgling businesses.

That means that the advice needs to be more wide ranging, covering lots of aspects of business and start from the assumption of a zero knowledge base to ensure that we don’t miss any of the fundamental stuff that could make or break your business like when do you need to register with HMRC and how do you do that.

Accounting Confidence Coach is an exciting new venture for us.  It is aimed at helping small business owners get to grips with the financial side of their business in a way that takes the stress out of it for them.
